Google Sucks

Ok, Google doesn’t really suck, but I want to see if I can get anyone’s attention over there in Googleland about this problem. This is a BUG! A big fat BUG! Ok, so maybe it doesn’t produce the any error or anything, but it really annoyed me when I searched.

Wanna know what I searched for? … http

Yup… every web site on the internet has that wonderful prefix. Look at how many results you get: 6,340,000,000 Holy crap! But, guess what… when I type in http I don’t want every web site that ever existed. I want a web site about http, specifically the http protocol.

Seems that Yahoo has figured it out.

But MSN hasn’t. Who knows what kind of crazy algorithms they are using to come up with search results like that. Weird.

Google: To call it a bug would be evil to the engine developers and the hundreds of people we employ to rank our search quality. We’re not evil, we’re Googley. We’re just trying to organize the world’s information here, gosh!

Microsoft: That’s not a bug, it’s a feature that’s “by design.” 640K results ought to be enough for anybody, and you’re mad that you’re getting 640B? Besides, we can do anything Google can do better, including produce meaningless search results.

But really, there’s also an interesting bug in Google’s mobile mail client. At a certain point my mailbox went screwy and it displays the “to” wrong in every single message. Guess they’re not so perfect after all … and to think they got all fussy with me about whether or not a particular return type must be declared ‘const’.

    Dear Sir

I am appalled by what I read here about Google.

Perhaps this is why men are having such a hard time publicising their concerns.

    Keep up the good work

I guess it’s a true test of who has higher pagerank … funny how Microsoft wins.
