Well, screw you Matt, because we like Mark, so we're changing it. From now on, you're Mark, no, wait, MARKIE!, like Markie Post, the actress. Now you're stuck with it, biatch. BTW - FacedBook really sucks, it is a running, pus filled, oozing sore on the backbone of the Internet.

An old post though, but I could help Kenny, and others who might stumble upon this post.
In this case, as Mike said, ZuckMail is an SMTP client. You could put it in the same category as MS Outlook Express, Eudora, Thunderbird, Pegasus Mail, KMail, Evolution etc. Just that this ZuckMail seems to be a web based client, probably developed by Mark Zuckerberg himself? Maybe? You wouldn't put this application in the same category as daemons like Postfix, Sendmail, Qmail, Exim etc. ZuckMail actually submits e-mail messages to these daemons, or Mail Transport Agents (MTAs).

I think Kyle's main point was.. why they were possibly using a custom-made smtp mailer instead of the reknown postfix, sendmail, qmail, exim, etc..

X-Mailer is the SMTP header sent by proper clients to indicate the program. It's likely set as a header in the email glue code for Facebook, and since the source was originally written by him, ZuckMailer must have been appropriate.

You'll see some mention of it here - http://us3.php.net/function.mail.
