Gmap Uploader now supports DeepZoom/Seadragon

Now, all images that have and will be uploaded with Gmap Uploader will be available via the Deep Zoom URL format which means you will be able to view your images with Seadragon AJAX in your browser, and Seadragon Mobile on the iPhone.

So, either upload your image to Gmap Uploader, or go to the URL of a Gmap Uploader map you already have. After its done processing, at the bottom there will be a Deep Zoom URL. You can use this URL with either Seadragon AJAX, or Seadragon Mobile.

For Seadragon AJAX, I recommend putting this URL in the Embed The Viewer tool.

Once you’ve downloaded Seadragon Mobile to your iPhone, and opened it, follow these steps:

Press the plus button in the bottom right of Seadragon Mobile.
Select “Deep Zoom Content”.
Pick a name, for example, “Awesomeness”.
Enter the Deep Zoom URL from Gmap Uploader.
Press the “Done” button.
Be amazed.

Adding this feature probably means I need to change the name of Gmap Uploader. Any suggestions?

Tablet Fun!

So, I was playing around with my new wacom tablet pen input device that Steve Fentriss gave me to use. It’s pretty sweet. Thanks Steve. The whole pen input isn’t quite the same as normal pen to paper mostly because you have to look on the screen instead of on the pad. I opened up GIMPshop to see if I could make any good use of my new found tool for drawing stuff. Indeed, after downloading the right software and changing a few settings I was able to get touch sensitivity to work which was really cool. So, the harder you press on the pad, the thicker, or darker, or wider your pen or marker, or whatever got. Here’s some quick sketches I made. Don’t laugh too hard. I’m not an artist.

Update: I was recently informed she now works with the NNSA, the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Awsome. I’m wonder if it is really cheaper than real furniture. I guess if you already have the boxes lieing around it is, but what if you have to go out and buy them?

Looks like they’ve started construction on the Walgreen Drama Center on North Campus. Sweet! Maybe North Campus will be more of a hot spot now, instead of a baren wasteland.
