NoteServer

Here’s an AIM bot that will record a message for someone who isn’t on AIM. Kinda cool, but there’s not much technical information on the website that I can build from to make my own bots.

ODP – Open Directory Project

Friday, May 27th, 2005

This is kind of like Yahoo’s directory, but seems to be a bit better because it is edited by thousands of volunteers and not just a few hundred people like Yahoo’s probably is. Correct me if I’m wrong.

This is the only decent profiler/debugger I’ve found so far. Let me know if there are others.

Phone Phobic

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

Quoting a conversation with a friend who I talk to all the time on AIM, but never on the phone:

Her: well it doesn’t matter, I would call you anyway, if I wasn’t phone phobic
Me: haha
Me: why are you?
Her: I don’t know, but it’s gotten pretty bad lately, I screen all my calls and I never call people back, except my parents
Her: I just hate calling people
Me: you don’t call people back?
Her: I get nervous
Me: that’s horrible
Her: no, I don’t, i know it’s rude too
Her: and it’s my friends, not some stalker boy or something
Me: yea
Me: that’s bad
Me: you need phone counciling
Her: lol yeah I do, it’s ridiculous
Her: I bet you people think I don’t like them because I don’t call them back

Remote Scripting – Ashley IT

Remote Scripting is cool because it doesn’t cause the entire page to reload, and is used for some cool web applications like Google Maps and Gmail for example. Here’s an example using Javascript Remote Scripting.

The ESP Game: Labeling the Web

Sunday, May 22nd, 2005

The ESP Game is kind of interesting. It is similar to the game Taboo. You are given some images and you have to give a word or a few words describing the image. If you guess the same as your partner, you get to move on. But, you can’t see your partner’s guess. If Google could figure out how to get people to identify images like this, their image search would be much better.
