Compile to Javascript??

Saturday, October 15th, 2005

Whoa… I just found this, and if it does what it sounds like it does, that’s amazing! This says it will compile a high-level language of your choice such as Java and C++ umong others into Javascript and HTML to run in a browser. Also, you will be able to unplug your new web application from the net and simply run the http server on localhost.

shadypenguin.com Sells Out to Google

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

I was reading a nifty humor site some of my friends and their friends write for called shadypenguin.com. When I read the donate page I noticed this little blurb:

“But one thing we won’t do is put up ads; we refuse. We won’t sink to that level, that’s a promise. Not ever.”

Liars! What do I see on the right side of the page? None other than Google ads. I shoot them an email letting them know about their little contradiction. After a little while, they write this article about the whole situation.

“The sellout was identified by University of Michigan student Kyle Mulka, who pointed out Hornshaw’s hypocrisy about 14 seconds after Google ads appeared on SHADYPENGUIN.COM.”

Well… at least you admit to it, but come on, at least update your FAQ, cause I know you aren’t going to take down the ads.

Looks like they’ve started construction on the Walgreen Drama Center on North Campus. Sweet! Maybe North Campus will be more of a hot spot now, instead of a baren wasteland.

Straight-Up Links Don’t Belong in Blogs

Sunday, June 5th, 2005

So, I’ve decided that a blog is not really the best place to put links because they are sorted by time and not as much so by ranking, or catagory. I’d be glad to take suggestions of server-side software that organizes my links. That would rock. But, for now, I will continue posting away.
