Web Apps == Native Apps (but not really)

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

Jeremy31337: The point is that you want a web application that runs like a native one without actually being one
Jeremy31337: And you want to have it be integrated into the website and not look separate, like Java has to be.
Jeremy31337: Because of the virtual machine.
Jeremy31337: It can’t interact with the actual webpage for most things, without severe restrictions.

Open Source Solaris 10

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

Linux…. Unix… what’s the difference? Well, until now one of the percieved differences was that Linux was free and open source, and versions of Unix were not. A major version of Unix, Solaris 10, was open sourced just yesterday, and as of earlier this year has been free and, has been available for x86 platforms. What does this mean? Well… all you Linux lovers have almost no excuse not to try it out. And, people looking for a very stable server have a good free solution. With this kind of competition, how will Microsoft stay in the server and possibly desktop market? Well… one way might be to hire the founder of Gentoo Linux.

Call a number, give a one minute speach over the phone, and get it broadcasted over a loud speaker. That’s what One Free Minute is all about. Hmm… what shall I say. BTW, its completely annonymous.

Wired News: Never IM in This Town Again!

Monday, June 13th, 2005

For anyone who may be following my thoughts on creating an away message aggregator as it may be called, here’s an article to support the thought.

For those that don’t care to read it, it basically says people in hollywood that work, or hire for short time gigs use iChat because of its feature to display all away messages together. So, a quick browse through the list would indicate if someone was in need of work or just finishing up a gig.

“‘Ninety percent of my work is given to me through a pop-up (chat window) on my desktop,’ said Simon Foster, 32, a freelance production coordinator living in Santa Monica, California.”

So, maybe my idea of creating an easier way to view away messages would have some use after all.

MulkaMich: it was hot
Jeremy31337: Wow.
Jeremy31337: So you have to sing correctly?
Jeremy31337: And you get points for that?
MulkaMich: more or less, yes
Jeremy31337: Wow.
Jeremy31337: That’s awesome!!!
MulkaMich: you have to get the right pitches
Jeremy31337: I would totally pwn that game!
Jeremy31337: I have perfect pitch
MulkaMich: and by perfect pitch, do you mean you can sing any given note without a reference?
Jeremy31337: Correct
